Many of you know that my Swim4Life Curriculum is focused on Lifesaving Skills from Infant up. That led me to this amazing resource, organization and event to raise awareness. My heart is that no parent wakes up missing their child. To save one life is priceless. I truly appreciate your support!

Did you know that drowning is the #1 cause of death for children ages 1-4 and a leading cause for older children, teens and adults, yet drowning is preventable?

Between 2006-2020, Texas lost 5000 children and adults to drowning in all kinds of water.

Last year, Texas alone lost 76 children to FATAL, PREVENTABLE Drowning, while 8x as many have survived a non-fatal drowning.

This year (as of April 25th), Texas has lost at least 12 children to fatal, preventable drowning.

Annually, the U.S loses an average of 3,500 people of all ages to FATAL, PREVENTABLE drowning.

Globally, more than 236,000 people are lost to drowning.

Drowning does not discriminate on any basis- age, race, gender, socioeconomic level or even swimming ability. NO ONE IS DROWN PROOF.  Not Even Me or You. YOU.

All that is why I will be swimming and paddling at least 100 miles in 2022.  Each mile will be in honor and celebration of someone lost to a drowning, someone who survived a non-fatal drowning and their families left behind.   They are the WHY I swim/paddle and WHY I have been working tirelessly in water safety and drowning prevention for the last 12+ years.   I will try to complete the 100 miles leading up to and finishing on July 25th (World Drowning Prevention Day)

Colin's Hope educates parents/caregivers and children to be safer aorund the water all year round through proven progams. Colin's Hope distributes 75,000 water safety education cards each year, sponsors swim lessons and water safety education lessons, stocks life jacket loaner stations, serves in leadership positions locally, state and nationwide. This year, Colin's Hope is putting our evidence-based Water Safety with Colin & Friends curriculum on a new website that will allow parentss, caregivers, teachers and children FREE access to water safety lessons and videos.

The work that Colin's Hope does ABSOLUTELY saves lives, changes behaviors to be safer around water and prevents drownings. If we continue this work, we CAN END DROWNING.

Together, we will do this in honor of Colin and all of the children lost to a fatal drowning and those who have survived a non-fatal drowning and their families who courageously work every day to prevent drowning so that no familiy will have to experience what they have experienced. It will take ALL of US to change the culture of water safety. I dream of a day when kids learn about water safety when they learn not to touch the stove or to wear a seatbelt or to stop, drop and roll. I know we can get there if we work together.
