2020 has definitely been a challenging year with the pandemic, quarantine and basically every race event either getting canceled or going virtual.  These are also trying times for asking for donations.  But I feel Colin's Hope is a worthy charity so when I saw that their annual Got2Swim event was going virtual, I was game.

Two years ago, I was on a team of 3 swimmers to swim the Got2Swim 10K event.  This was my first event with them and absolutely fell in love with the message; drownings are preventable.  I had planned to make this an annual event but due to kid and their sports obligations, I was bummed that I had to decline being part of this great day and event. This week Colin's Hope organizers decided to make the 11th annual Got2Swim event virtual and we could pick our distance!  With a little nudge from a friend to do it, I signed up. 

We have been given from July 8th - Sep 2nd to swim our chosen distance in one continuous challenge or as an accumulation of swims.  I have signed up to swim a half marathon, 13.1 miles or 23,056 yards during this period but am really striving to reach the marathon distance of 26.2 miles (46,112 yards).  Currently, I am doing the majority of my swims in a pool but am hoping to get out and do some open water swimming soon.
