Thanks for visiting my page!  I'm raising funds in support of Colin's Hope, an Austin-based charity dedicated to promoting water safety and preventing childhood drowning.  Drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death in children under 4, and a leading cause of death for children between 1 and 14.  It happens a lot more than you might think.  As some of you know, this cause hits close to home for me- ten years ago, we lost my nephew in a tragic drowning accident.

I'll be swimming in the Got2Swim 10K this September, an open water race benefiting Colin's Hope.  The timing of this event is particularly poignant, as my nephew would have turned 18 just six days later.  I'll be swimming in his memory and also in support of another Texas family who has also lost a child.

This will easily be the most challenging swim event I've ever done.  I'd considered doing this event in the past, but was always intimidated by the distance- 10K is more than 2.5X the length of an Ironman swim!  But it's time for me to do this, and it wouldn't be as meaningful if it wasn't hard (so this will be pretty darn meaningful!).  I hope you'll consider supporting my efforts with a donation to Colin's Hope.  Please check out their website at www.colinshope.org to see the great programs and initiatives that your hard earned dollars will fund.  Thanks again for reading my page, and thanks for your support!
